The fruit of the jojoba shrub is a bean from the flower of the female jojoba plant. It quietly ripens in the Australian sunshine and when mature, it simply drops to the ground and dries naturally under the shady skirt of the jojoba shrub.

The jojoba bean looks like a coffee bean but it has a very mild taste with the texture of a slightly chewy pecan nut. About 50% of the mass of the jojoba bean is the luxurious liquid golden wax. This wax is released when the bean is cold pressed. The remaining solid material left after pressing is jojoba meal. It is in semi-dry fine granules and retains a residual 2-3% of the liquid wax.

This gives jojoba meal a pleasant, non scratchy feel on the skin. As you rub it on the jojoba meal breaks down into finer and finer particles.
